Champions of the Arena

The crowd's hunger for a champion Etherborn… can you hear their cheers and shouts? It is a new age for gladiators who are seeking glory in the colosseum. The challenge is like nothing ever seen before… but so are the rewards. Will you choose to take courage, look death in the eye and take destiny into your hands?



⚔️ Arena V2 Refresh


The Arena is the most competitive challenge that Etherscape currently offers. Over the past months, players have pushed the limits and achieved incredible outcomes even topping level 100. Watching players rise to the challenge has helped to inform how the Arena must evolve to be more fun, competitive and rewarding.

The new Arena is designed to be faster paced, require more player skill and to take advantage of a variety of class builds. In order to achieve this, we have added a host of new features and adjustments including the following...


  • Enemies are capped at level 22 (starting at arena level 56).

  • The number of active challenges can now go higher than 3. Starting at level 20, you get 1 extra challenge (making the total 4). At level 40 you get another extra challenge (making the total 5). Starting at level 56 you get an extra challenge for every 4 rounds with no cap.

  • Arena rounds and rewards now use a common weekly seed. This means every player gets the same experience for that week which makes the competition fair. Also, if you die and try again you will get the same experience for that week.

  • All rounds now have a timer. Boss and Kill All Enemies rounds have a 15-minute time to complete.

  • There is a new arena round type called "Protect the Spire". In this mode, a Spire is spawned in the level, and you have to defend it against waves of enemies. If it dies, then you lose.

  • There is a new arena round type called "Hold the Ground". In this mode, a circle area is spawned that you need to stand in to gain progress. If you leave the circle, you don't gain progress. You need to hold the circle for a long enough time before the round time runs out.

  • There are now 5 different arena maps based on different biomes (dungeon, cave, rift, island, winter). The arena biome will rotate every week.

  • There are lots of new more difficult challenges added with different minimum levels.

  • Rock wall and Wild growth challenges that add barriers randomly into the level restricting movement.

  • New explosion challenges with much more explosions requiring more movement

  • Firemaze challenge

  • Challenges that occasionally add healing pillars, binding pillars or rift spires into the level

  • New challenge that occasionally requires you to stand in a safe zone or else take damage (essentially the opposite of an explosion)

  • New Proof of Glory resource for arena participation



Along with these changes, we are making the Arena even more rewarding. The weekly Arena rewards will now include a new resource called Proof of Glory. This resource will be used in future crafting recipes starting with the Nightmare skin set which is described further below.

🧙‍♂️ New Skins


We are releasing 3 new hand-crafted weapon skin sets that can be earned completely in game. These sets are designed to open up new styles, pump up your renown and show off your ability to grind out resources in game.


The Midas skins are designed to show off a beautiful golden look. They are crafted from Gold Bars which required 10M gold each to refine.

The Spirit skins can be crafting using Spirit Shards which are earned by levelling characters beyond 10. Only players who are truly dedicated to the XP grind will be able to sport these.

Lastly, the Nightmare skins are crafted using the new Proof of Glory resources. Only gladiators that have proven their ability to conquer the Arena consistency will succeed in crafting these.

👑 Renown Titles


With all these new skins to collect, it is time to add some more utility for renown! You will now be able to unlock new titles by stacking renown to show off your great respect in the game world. Below are the titles and their unlock tiers...

💎 Legendary Crafting


Beyond skins, the first ever sacred legendary crafting recipes are being introduced. These will allow you to upgrade your Pickup Bot Prime, Light Ghost and Schitt-Hedd the Dog to Sacred Legendary versions. The Sacred Legendary version will allow you to stack more magic find using your pet slots.

Along with this, 2 new faction resources are being added as well. The Demonic Horde will now drop horns, and the Cursed Tide will now drop scales. Crafting utility will be added to these resources in an upcoming release.


⚙️ Resource Storage


Over time the diversity of resources has continued to grow. This is natural as the crafting system becomes more mature and more objectives are added for players to achieves. However, this puts a lot of pressure on storage for players that want to stack resources for crafting. In order to solve this, we have added an all-new resource stash.

The resource storage by default has 1 slot for every resource type which can store 1 stack. This will provide immediate relief to all players. However, it can be infinitely expanded using the new Resource Chest token. This will allow the slots to store more than the typical max stack size for revery resource. Imperial Sovereign rewards have also been updated to includes some resource stash expansion bonuses.

🗨️ Social Advancements


As Etherscape grows, the need for more social tools has also increased. With this release, there is now support to add players to your own friends and blocked lists. When a player is a friend, you will get a notification when that player joins your server. Blocked players will not see each other's chat messages and will not be able to join each other's quests. Along with this, basic profanity blocking has been added and a new server-side chat log has been added to help enforce our Community Conduct Policy.

🛡️ Class Traits


As the gaming systems of Etherscape mature, we are finding areas that need to be expanded to ensure diverse gameplay styles are effective. In this release, we are taking an important step towards making more classes viable in the end game. To do this, we are introducing the Class Traits system. Different classes can have different traits assigned to them which will unlock their ability to use specific items or features.



More traits will be introduced over time. However, the first trait which comes with this release is the "Tank" trait. The Warrior, Knight, Barbarian, and Ogre will be the first classes to receive the Tank trait. Having this trait will enable the use of the reworked shield offhand item.

Newly dropped shields will require the Tank trait, and they will always roll with the new magic property "Blocking". Blocking dramatically reduces the amount of damage (up to 80%) that is taken by the character when hit from the front. It does not provide any benefit when hit from behind. This will allow Tank characters to sustain much more damage if players are skillful enough to keep the hits on their front.


In future updates, expect to see new traits making more melee and support classes have viable play styles in the end game.


🏗️ Enjin Upgrades


The Enjin Blockchain continues to advance, and we are dedicated to using the latest and greatest features. As part of this release cycle, we have migrated from our Selfhost Platform to the Enjin Cloud platform. This has enabled us to pick up the latest features as well as to reduce our cost.
